To see them husband and wife

The night the Lovings were wed
They woke to the sheriff and his
Deputies round their bed

They were jailed and then exiled
So they moved to D.C.
They found work and had children
But they missed their families
The Lovings challenged the law
In the courts of the land
The Supreme Court declared
Intermarriage could not be banned
